(LOCATION: ISLANTILLA,   PROVINCE: HUELVA,   REGION: ANDALUCIA,   COUNTRY: SPAIN)

SPAIN

Spain is famous for its diversity of culture, food and lifestyle, which is no wonder since it has an enviable climate. Warmth and sunshine pervade all year round. Whether you are seeking relaxation form a fast moving world or visiting for a cosmopolitan atmosphere, there is always something for everyone to in enjoy in Spain. Easy accessibility has meant that Spain enjoys a thriving tourist industry; you can easily find low cost flights from most continental destinations.

ANDALUCIA
Andalucia is best known for the Costa del Sol (Puerto Banus and Marbella) which looks out to the Mediterranean Sea and the Costa de la Lu
z which faces the Atlantic Ocean. They are generally smart resorts, with mountainous and beautiful countryside just inland. People have known to book cheap packages in these places and use the accommodation as a base to visit the many inland scenic and cultural attractions of the interior.

There is much more to the Costas than just beaches. While there is plenty of golf, there exists a traditional unspoilt Spain, worlds apart from the northern-European countries.  Andalucia is also well known for its "White Villages" further inland nestling in the hills.

Rainfall here is scarce in the Summer, and evenings are warm. Even in winter there is normally lots of sunshine.

As well as Andalucia´s fascinating cities and dazzling shores, the region is sprinkled with tiny unspoilt villages and whitewashed towns - the famous pueblos blancos - which tourists often overlook, even though they are of easy access, such as Casares, Lepe  and Arcos de la Frontera.

Andalucia, then, is a region of startling contrasts and great charm. Yet, this mysterious corner of Europe is easy to reach, with hundreds of charter flights arriving each week.

HUELVA
Situated between the Tinto and Odiel rivers, the old town of what is now Huelva was founded in prehistoric times. It was Onuba for the Turdetans, Tartessians and Phoenicians, and Guelbah for the Moors. Alfonso X the Wise conquered Huelva in 1297. Huelva is famous for its port, which has a mobile dock for loading ore. In the 18th century, Huelva was hit by a devastating earthquake which destroyed much of its early remains. As it was a famous port city, British mining companies developed an English quarter "Barrio Riena Victoria" during the 19th century.

Places of interest include the churches of San Pedro, La Concepción and San Francisco and the convent of La Merced. In the surrounding countryside you will find reminders of the discovery of America dotted around including the monument to Columbus, donated by the American sculptress, Gertrude Whitney, and the sanctuary of Our Lady of La Cinta, patroness of the city, said to have been visited by Columbus. Today it is large, sprawling and industrialised and claims to be a 'flamenco capital'. However several of the city's splendid old buildings and monuments remain, including the 15th century Church of San Pedro, built on the site of a mosque.

Other places of interest in the city include the Muelle del Tinto docks, built at the beginning of the century to load Huelva's mineral exports; the Conquero lookout and the provincial museum. Best of all is to discover the story of Christopher Colombus. This can be done at La Rabida Monestery, at the Muelle de las Carabelas, where a modern museum with an hourly audio visual presentation houses replicas of Colombus' ships. Explore them at your leisure. At the nearby village of Palos de la Frontera visit the actual embarkation point of the voyage and see the old well from where the fresh water was taken on board.

ISLANTILLA
ISLANTILLA is the new tourism capital of the Atlantic Coast. This heavenly coast of the south is surrounded by dozen of beautiful beaches where the sun always shines. Totally unspoilt by mass tourism and over development. A place which was designed to provide an escape for those searching for sun and active tourism. A big temptation for those who are keen on virgin beaches and exotic environment as well as sport and culture activities. All this and more, even the most demanding traveller will be satisfied with the quality and the beauty of the beaches. From the ones next to the port "Puerto del Terron" to the central beach of ISLA CRISTINA, you can choose your particular oasis, walking along a sandy beach of several kilometres with changing names like LA ANTILLA, LA CASITA AZUL, LA REDONDELA or PUNTA DEL CAIMAN among others.

From the ocean walk of ISLANTILLA, walking along landscaped paths and dunes you get to a fantastic beach. Between huge palm trees and a balustrade you approach the Atlantic Ocean. Behind you, you can see a hillside with beautiful apartments and houses. On top of it the Golf Club with fantastic facilities and a wonderful luscious green lawn you will find the House "Green Club".

The ISLANTILLA Golf Club is probably the most beautiful in the whole of Andalucia region. Relaxation and active leisure at the same time.

The spectacular 27 Holes layout of ISLANTILLA, are designed in the most pure Parkland Style and with incredibles sea views. The Course was open in 1992 and it is situated just in the Portuguese Algarve Border in a region famous for its Christopher Columbus reminiscences and for its incredibles stroweries fields.

The region already renamed as the "Andalusian Algarve" is separated from Portugal by the Guadiana River and its spectacular bridge and it is only 80 km., by motorway from Faro Airport and 125 km., by motorway from Seville Airport.

Instead of its short history ISLANTILLA has already hosted the most prestigious Golf Events, included the SPANISH PGA, The CHALLENGE TOUR and the TURESPAÑA MASTERS OPEN DE ANDALUCIA, (Volvo European Tours Events).
